New charges January 1 2020
Between Christmas and New Year 2019, the government trebling the taxes on carrier bags and disposable tableware.
The new law entered into force already on 1 January 2020, and this means a significant price increase for paper, plastic and corn carrier bags as well as disposable services.
The purpose of the law is to reduce consumption and thus reduce the amount of waste.
Bag tax
All bags with handles made of plastic, paper or corn with a capacity of more than 5 L are subject to the tax, which currently amounts to:
Plastic: DKK 66.00 per kg. Paper and corn: DKK 30.00 per kg.

Bags, nets and heavy bags are not covered by the tax.
One time service
The tax liability includes one-off disposable tableware regardless of the material they are made of, i.e., knives, forks, spoons, plates and mugs etc. of plastic, wood, sugar cane and cardboard etc
Disposable service is taxable both for private use and for commercial use, even if the item is exclusively of a type and kind that is only used commercially.
The fee is currently DKK 57.60 per kg.
